Machine Twisted Fibre (FMT) is produced from high-quality natural coir fibres extracted from coconut husks, which are cleaned and expertly twisted into strong, durable coils. Using an advanced machine-twisting technique, the coir fibres are twisted, steamed, and spun to achieve a tight curl, providing strength and resilience.
The fibres are then processed to give a spring-like feel, making it perfect for applications where durability, comfort, and eco-friendliness are essential. This versatile product is widely used in bedding, automotive upholstery, horticulture, and erosion control.
We produce FMT fiber at our Chilaw facility, controlling twist density, thickness, and colour batch by batch. Supply is in standard or mega coil form, packed and loaded to your container specification.
Why It Works
Made from 100% natural coconut husk, our Machine Twisted Fibre is sustainable, biodegradable, and supports green manufacturing.
The twisting process enhances the strength and resilience of the fibre, making it ideal for heavy-duty applications such as mattresses and car seats.
Provides a spring-like, supportive feel, making it perfect for products requiring high levels of comfort like bedding and upholstery.
Used in various industries, including bedding, automotive upholstery, horticulture, and erosion control.
The structure of coir fibres allows for excellent water retention and filtration, making it suitable for drainage systems and horticulture.
Good to Know
Machine Twisted Fibre. Coir fibres are cleaned and expertly twisted into strong, durable coils using the Machine Twisted technique — twisted, steamed, and spun to achieve a tight, lasting curl.
We supply coils in standard (20–25 kg) or mega (120–150 kg) formats. Rope form protects the curl during shipping; many manufacturers open it on-site.
Coir breathes. It ventilates moisture and heat, keeps its loft for years, and at end of life it biodegrades instead of persisting as plastic waste.
Yes — natural, black, or red colouring, and thickness (20–26 mm) and twist density (60–68 twists/metre) are all controlled during production to match your standard.
