Macgrow’s Coir Twine is made from high-quality bristle fibers extracted from coconut husks, offering a natural, eco-friendly, and biodegradable solution for various industrial and agricultural uses. Known for its strength, durability, and versatile texture, our coir twine is ideal for applications such as stringing hops, supporting vine crops, gardening needs, matting, carpet weaving, and oyster farming.

Available in 2-ply and 3-ply varieties, our coir twine offers a breaking strength of up to 100 lbs, with a range of thickness options to suit diverse needs. We twist our twine at our own mill in Chilaw, controlling ply, diameter, and twist rate for consistent runnage and strength across industrial and retail put-ups.

Why It Works

Benefits of Coco Twine

Eco-Friendly & Biodegradable

Made from 100% natural coconut husk fibers, coir twine is environmentally sustainable and decomposes naturally over time, reducing waste.

Durable & Strong

Coir twine has high tensile strength, making it ideal for heavy-duty applications like hops cultivation, vine training, and industrial uses.

Versatile Applications

Suitable for agriculture, horticulture, aquaculture, gardening, and crafts, due to its flexibility and toughness.

UV Resistant

Resistant to sunlight degradation, coir twine maintains its integrity when exposed to outdoor conditions for extended periods.

Excellent Grip

The rough texture of coir provides a secure grip for plant vines, hops bines, and other climbing plants, promoting healthy growth and stability.

Good to Know

Coco Twine — FAQs

How long does coco twine last outdoors?

Typically one to two growing seasons under full weather exposure, then it composts harmlessly. Indoors or under cover it lasts for years.

Is it strong enough to support hop bines?

Yes — coir twine is a traditional choice in hop yards precisely because it holds a full bine through harvest, then goes through the harvester and composts with the vines instead of contaminating them like polypropylene.

What put-ups can you supply?

Precut strings for hop cultivation, rolls and nets for aquaculture, and hanked bundles for domestic gardening — tell us your required breaking strength, thickness, and packaging.

Is the twine treated with anything?

The core can be supplied plain or with a polypropylene, cotton, or polyester inner thread for extra strength — no dyes or harmful chemical treatments.
