The Coir Rope Mat is a durable and eco-friendly mat made from twisted coir rope, derived from natural coconut husk fibers. It offers excellent strength and resilience, making it ideal for both indoor and outdoor use.

The mat’s rustic texture and natural look add an earthy appeal to homes, patios, and garden spaces. Coir rope mats are biodegradable, resistant to water and mold, and provide great grip and durability in high-traffic areas — used to stabilise hiking trails, protect construction site floors from dust and soil displacement, and control erosion on roads and coastal areas.

Each mat is woven at our facility from rope twisted out of our own fiber stream, in six standard widths. Combined with our coir logs and geotextile nets, they complete a fully natural, fully biodegradable erosion-control system from a single supplier.

Why It Works

Benefits of Coco Coir Rope Mats

Durable and Long-Lasting

Coir rope mats are highly durable, withstanding heavy foot traffic and rough usage both indoors and outdoors.

Slip-Resistant

The rough texture of coir provides excellent grip and slip resistance, enhancing safety in high-traffic areas.

Erosion Control

Helps stabilize soil on roads, hiking trails, and coastal areas by preventing erosion caused by rain or foot traffic.

Trail Stabilization

Provides a natural covering for hiking trails, making it easier for pedestrians to walk through, while protecting the soil underneath.

Soil Conditioning

Acts as a soil conditioner by protecting the underlying soil from heavy rainwater and helping maintain moisture.

Coco Coir Rope Mats — FAQs

How do rope mats differ from coir netting?

Mass and coverage. Netting is an open mesh that vegetation grows through; rope mats are close-woven from thick rope, giving a near-continuous wearing surface for foot traffic and high-energy water where netting alone would fail.

Are these only used for erosion control?

No — the rustic texture and natural look also make them popular for patios, gardens, and entryways, in addition to construction site protection and trail stabilisation.

How are they fixed in place?

Heavy U-pins or hardwood stakes at overlaps and edges, with anchor trenches at crests for channel work — the same principles as geotextile installation, scaled up for the mat's weight.

Do you make custom sizes?

Yes. Six standard widths from 0.6 m to 2.0 m are available at 10 m length and 35 mm thickness, with custom dimensions on request.
